Successful completion of Private Equity Funding program in Malta

In 2009/2010 InvestorNet successfully completed a one year Private Equity Funding program in Malta for the government organisation "Malta Enterprise".
The objective of the “Equity funding Program” was to provide and test a comprehensive approach for the facilitation of businesses in obtaining equity financing. The Program included awareness creation seminars, training classes and individual coaching of entrepreneurs and companies.
The format and content of the Program yielded concrete results. It confirms that there are both start up-companies in Malta with a growth potential which represents interesting investment opportunities and that there are private investor in Malta who are willing and ready to invest in such projects. 2 out of the 18 companies attending the Master Classes achieved funding and one company is still in the process. Although the sample of companies is small, the Equity Funding Program provided results almost 10 times higher than industry average, where venture capital funds typically invest in only 1 – 2 proposals out of every 100 proposals they receive. The results corresponds the those achieved under the pan-European EU funded PRORETT-Project conducted a few year ago.
